Nyepi, a day for Silence, inspiration from Bali

"Today is silence day in Bali.

meditation, fasting and introspection celebration for the beginning of the new year in the Balinese calendar. This is how the Balinese receive the new cycle that will last for about a year.
We all must stay home, no one can go out except the Pecalang (a kind of police that makes sure everything is in silence), we are not supposed to watch TV or even cook! The airport is closed and all we can ear are the sounds of the tropical nature, the birds, the river water, the many insects... what a blessing!
And when we live according to a lunar calendar, synchronised with the whole, everything synchs and connects. today we are under the influence of a new moon, a solar eclipse and the spring equinox, so lots of energy in the air!
And I wonder today, what would be the world if we all would start the new year this way. If we all would wake up on the first of January and reflect on us, in the world, what we are doing here, who are we, going back to the roots, to our seeds and meditate in what can we do better. or just listening to ourselves, to our inner and go into deep meditation becoming aware of our breath enjoying this unique moment of inner peace and security.
The Balinese, I´ve been saying, are for me, as close to human perfection as we can get in the condition we find ourselves. and today again, at their best, they prove so."
